Saints march to first-ever Fraser Valley title

When his team fell down two sets to none in the Fraser Valley championship final, Langley Saints coach Dave McLeod didn’t panic.

The Saints senior girls volleyball team were down 2-0 to the Clayton Heights Nightriders — in the other team’s home gymnasium — on Wednesday night in the 3A Fraser Valley final.

Former Brookswood student hosting campaign for basketball shoes

It was after attending a seminar by motivational speaker Tony Robbins last year that Jamie Jarvis was first inspired to combine his love for basketball, with an initiative to give back to his community.

Beginning with one small act, he took $100 of his own money, and purchased a pair of basketball shoes for a student player at Brookswood Secondary School.

LANGLEY — There was a moment in Saturday’s Telus B.C. senior girls triple-A basketball championship final when Aislinn Konig, while preparing to attack the defence, started into her dribble and then started kicking up a shuffle of sorts with her feet.

With the defence frozen by her flutter-step move, her high-arcing floater deflected off the glass and through the hoop.
