Get the dancing shoes ready, because the ninth annual Brookswood Secondary School Swing Night and Dance is right around the corner, along with live music, a fun silent auction, treats and more.
The event at Brookswood Secondary on Friday will be helping raise money for the school’s music department.
“All of our instrumental ensembles will be participating,” said BSS music director Derrick Turi. “Doug Makela’s Big Band is our guest instrumental group. All of the repertoire will be based on swing, big band and dance music.”
Doors will be open at 6 p.m., and the night will be kicked off with the concert bands warming up things from six to 7 p.m. Following that will be an exciting swing dance lesson from 7 to 8 p.m. The night will conclude with the Junior and Senior Jazz Bands hitting up a beat for everyone.
